An update from Mass Chair Kirsten Hughes on Senate Race

Dear Massachusetts Republicans,

I want to provide you with an update about the state of the special election for U.S. Senate from Party HQ.  I've been talking, texting and meeting with a wide range of potential candidates and I'm excited at what I've seen and heard. The chatter and speculation from the Democrats and some corners of the media has predictably focused on criticizing Republicans while ignoring their own candidates -- two long time beltway insiders who have been directly contributing to the epic dysfunction that is Washington D.C. today.

I know everyone is anxious to get our candidates in the arena so we can gather signatures, knock on doors, set up phone banks and turn our attention to the business of winning. As part of our preparation, all State Committee members will receive signature papers in the mail over the next couple of days so they will be able to work with activists and elected GOP officials in their districts to help our senate candidate, or candidates, hit the ground running. Your efforts will be a key component to our success and in the compressed time frame we're facing, we don't have a moment to spare.

For those of you North of Boston, Peabody’s Greg Bunn and Leah Cole are competing in the Republican primary for the 12th Essex district - two great candidates that I am sure you will hear much more about soon. Please do what you can to participate and make a difference in this race.

Needless to say, we have a lot of work ahead if we are going to return what some are calling "Kerry's seat" to the people and continue chipping away at the one-party rule on Beacon Hill.

I look forward to seeing you all on the campaign trail.

Yours in Victory,

Kirsten Hughes
